About Me:
There are two kinds of people in this world: those who see things through pixie-dusted glasses and those who haven't yet had the pleasure. Count me in with the former. I'm Darcie, a central California native who now calls southeastern Arizona home. I'm also the mother of four children, each of them distinctly, inexplicably, and beautifully different than the next. I'm a wife, writer, reader, blogger, experimental home cook, COO of domestic affairs and minivan chauffeur. I'm an incurable Type-A, a lover of pedicures, a hopeless foodie, and wine connoisseur. I believe Walt Disney said it best when he said, "Everybody can make their dreams come true..." For me, being a part of this panel is living proof.
About My Family: I’m married to a rocket scientist, who, unlike a stereotypical one, is as fun-loving and carefree as they come, think “Hakuna Matata.” I have three daughters, ages 17, 14 and 12, and a five-year-old son. The personalities that make up our family run the gamut from shy and quiet to outrageously outgoing. My oldest daughter is convinced that she is Cinderella's long lost sister. My 14-year-old is an eternally inquisitive fiery redhead (as stubborn as Ariel no doubt!). My youngest daughter was blessed with an extra chromosome; we have yet to figure out if her charming ways are enhanced or inhibited by the fact that she has Down syndrome. Last, but certainly not least, is my son whose boundless energy keeps me on my toes day in and day out! Disney destinations always top our list of vacation hot spots. Keep an eye out for us in the parks or on the ships; we'll be the ones with the matching Disney shirts, singing along word-for-word to the attraction/parade soundtracks!
About My Disney Experience: Since having become an inagural member of the Walt Disney World Moms panel in 2008, my love for and knowledge of all things Disney has only multiplied. As the resident expert on travel planning, I've garnered tons of insight into valuable travel trips, including details for special needs and senior citizen family members. My love for Disney parks is deeply rooted; I grew up taking regular trips to Disneyland, so many I've lost count! As an adult, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to create priceless magical memories with my own four children at various Disney destinations. My role as a panelist affords me the honor of playing an “Internet Fairy Godmother” and spreading virtual pixie dust in the form of vacation tips that help other families plan amazing Disney vacations!

Hi, Barbara! I'm so sorry that you're getting conflicting information. There have been some recent changes to the website and I suspect that is the root of much of the confusion. I can tell you, though, that I have personally made...

Hello Moms Panel, I want to go to Disney in October. I want to know if there is a resort with King beds and pull out couches?
- Asked by RHEA on 3/12/2013

There are a few standard rooms that offer a king bed, Rhea. But if you're looking for a standard room that offers two king beds and a pull-out sofa bed, you're going to be disappointed to hear that there aren't any. Most of Disney's...

We are coming to WDW Resort in Nov 2013. If we utilize the family & freinds discount from a cast member to apply to our room rate. Then in Nov an offer comes out for a free meal plan during our stay can we apply both discounts towards our trip?
- Asked by Samantha on 3/12/2013

It's not likely, Samantha. In the past, Disney has stipulated that free dining promotions cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions. Of course, we can't say for sure until the promotion is released (if it is released),...

Can you split meals at table service restaurants with another person. Allowing us to go to more Signature dining places because we would stretch out our dining credits. Not wanting to do this at buffets of course, but table service meals.
- Asked by Janine on 3/12/2013

I have teenage daughters with small appetites, Janine. Many times, two of them opt to share an entree. They've done so at many of Disney's restaurants without raising any eyebrows. I'm not sure about sharing meals at signature...

1st WDW trip. Would like to eat dinner at Beaches and Cream. Are there any evening fireworks/etc that can be viewed from Beach resort, if not what nearby would you suggest? Please give details on eating/travel times, specifics would be great. Thx!
- Asked by Kim on 3/11/2013

Beaches and Cream is a ton of fun, Kim. There is an obstructed view of IllumiNations from the bridge that connects the Beach Club to the BoardWalk. The walk to that area from Beaches and Cream won't take any more than ten minutes at a...
