We would like to enjoy the magic of Disney during the holidays 2011 but can't decide between a Cruise or DisneyWorld? Any advice is appreciated!!

This is a great question – and it’s the last one I’ll answer before my friend Andi
takes the helm as our Disney Cruise Line Specialist.
As a New Englander, I never imagined that the magic of the holidays could even be remotely captured while vacationing in sunny Florida. Boy was I wrong! I was stunned to not only see the magic in the twinkling lights, magnificent Christmas trees and holiday decor – but to FEEL the magic of the holiday season was a remarkable surprise.
In all honesty, my answer depends on when you plan on visiting. If you’re looking to visit over the Christmas holiday, I suggest a Disney Cruise without hesitation. One thing I don’t handle well is crowds – and the week surrounding Christmas is probably the busiest week of the year at the theme parks. Having done it once, I found it very hard to really enjoy all that the parks have to offer when you’re sharing it with hundreds of thousands of others. At the parks this week you could expect extremely long lines for attractions and peak week surcharges for some of the dining locations. The cruise, on the other hand, has a finite number of cabins – and everything on the ship has been designed to comfortably accommodate this number, regardless of season.
If you are visiting a few weeks prior to Christmas, I have to recommend WDW vacation. There is nothing more magical that witnessing snow on Main Street of the Magic Kingdom or the millions lights of The Osborne Family Spectacle at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is not to be missed if visiting during the holiday season; it’s my favorite special event that WDW offers.
Whichever you choose, I am confident you will have a magical holiday vacation – good luck with your decision!
