I have a son with severe allergies to peanuts, nuts, beans and peas. Since he would have serious reactions to any cross-contaminated foods, how can I find out if the foods at the restaurants are safe for him?

Hi Dennis! I am deathly allergic to all nuts as well. The Disney food department is well trained in dealing with all types of food allergies, as this is one of the most visited vacation destinations on the planet.
For table service restaurants, you call ahead (407-939-3463) and let them know of your son's allergies. They will notify the chefs at all the restaurants you plan to visit about his condition and the cross contamination issue. Counter service eateries are more of a challenge as you can't make reservations in advance. If you do eat at these establishments, notify the manager cast member before you order. The counter service restaurants have listings of their menu items and ingredient lists.
I was in the World this week and I didn't get a chance to call ahead. At each restaurant I explained my condition. The chef came out to talk with me and discussed each and every item with the ingredients that I was ordering.
When you call the dining line, they are more than happy to help you with your son's dining for your entire trip. Also, I carry a soft cooler of snacks with me that contain safe items for me to munch on in between meals.
Have a magical stay!Laura S, from MA
