Hi Andi! We will be taking our first DC on Feb. 18th. We are VERY excited! We will be on the Disney Magic 7-Night Western Caribbean. When we dock, at the ports, are the beaches w/in walking distance or do we need a taxi. If so, what is the typical $$?

Welcome back, Stefanie!
Your Disney cruise is so close now that we can almost reach out and grab it! I may be almost
as excited as you are about your family's vacation.
In Grand Cayman, you'll tender to the port (so figure that into your traveling time), but you will have to take a cab or book a Port Adventure to get away from the bustling town center of George Town and to secluded beaches like Rum Point. Seven-mile beach is the most famous one on Grand Cayman, but you may have to contend with the crowds there. After all, it is quite literally a 7-mile beach. Depending on where you're going, cab fare can vary between $10-25 US.
In Cozumel, you'll also need to take a taxi to the beaches -- but I would do your homework before you decide which beach. Some are definitely more of a party atmosphere, some are for couples and then there are family-friendly ones, too. If you're looking for a way to see Cozumel and experience the beaches -- I'd recommend booking a Port Adventure through Disney which possibly includes meals or drinks. In ports like this, I hate to be nickled-and-dimed to death as you pay and tip the taxi driver, then for meals and drinks, and yet again for umbrellas, chairs, watersports and more. Plus, I like knowing that I don't have to figure in transportation back to the ship for the all aboard time. The Playa Mia Beach Break is a convenient, worry-free option for families as well as the Fury Catamaran & Beach Party
I hope this helps you plan, and if other questions pop into your head before you sail, don't hesitate to call on the two new Disney Cruise Line specialists on the panel -- Marisol and Nancy. After today, my term will expire, but it has been a pleasure helping you plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
