I am a single mother taking my 6 year old son to WDW in late May. What parks do you suggest we visit first? Also, are there any boy character meetings (like the bippity boutique for girls)? I want to make this a very memorable vacation for us.

Your magical trip is quickly approaching and I'm sure you are getting excited about spending some special time with your son. While all of the theme parks are amazing, I always suggest going to Magic Kingdom first. It is the quintessential park full of classic Disney fun. My next suggestion for you would be to check out Disney's Animal Kingdom. Your son is sure to love both of these and by visiting them first, you are sure to pack in some great experiences.
Three experiences that are super fun for boys his age are Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
, Wilderness Explorers, and Pirate League. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is my oldest son's absolute favorite activity at Walt Disney World. It is an interactive game using technology and trading cards and is a great way to explore Magic Kingdom. This adds a little fun in between attractions and shows around the park. Wilderness Explorers
is another interactive activity that takes place in Disney's Animal Kingdom and is a scavenger hunt of sorts. My then 6 year old daughter absolutely loved this on our last trip this summer. Lastly is the Pirates League
at Magic Kingdom, a pirate version of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Guests can be transformed into a pirate as they take the pirate oath and and receive their very own pirate name. There are several different packages available.
There is no cost to Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Wilderness Explorers, but park admission is required. Reservations for the Pirates League can be made by calling (407) 939-2739.
I hope I was able to offer some great options for adding a little magic to your trip.
