Planning a DCL trip on the Fantasy June 2013. What shore excursions in St. Thomas & St. Maarten do you recommend? Three families with 7 kids ages 6-12. Should you do an excursion at Castaway Cay? Thanks!

Congratulations on your cruise to the Eastern Caribbean aboard the Disney Fantasy! My family and I just returned from this itinerary on Saturday, and we had an amazing vacation.
In St. Maarten, you can opt for transportation to the French side of the island, but we took a water taxi to the beaches on the Dutch side -- which was convenient, inexpensive ($6 round trip per person) and fun. We had lunch near the beach and finished the day with shopping in town. Two great family-friendly Port Adventures in St. Maarten are the See and Sea Island Tour
and the Under Two Flags Tour
In St. Thomas, we bought tickets to the Sky Ride to Paradise Point
which provides breath-taking views of the port. Then, we took an open-air taxi tour of the island. The driver took us to the downtown shopping areas, the lookout over the Atlantic side of the island and to Magen's Bay Beach.
At Castway Cay, we have rented kayaks, floats, tubes, bikes and snorkel equipment -- which I recommend combining in the Extreme Getaway Package or the Getaway Package. Plus, you'll be able to touch the stingrays at Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure.
It's been a pleasure helping you plan your family's vacation, yet I will not be answering Disney Cruise questions after tomorrow. Other questions may pop into your head before you sail, and there are two new Disney Cruise Moms who will be more than happy to help you. I can't wait for you to have your turn to sail!
Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
