MagicBands - I am all for a plan but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around planning a ride time before I even get to the park. My understanding is if you use the MagicBand the traditional fast pass option isn't available. Is that correct? Thx

It is a game changer, isn't it? However I will tell you from experience, having my favorite attractions lined up ahead of time really did eliminate the need to rush around for paper Fastpasses. I think you'll grow to love the new system! For a limited time, guests are currently able to utilize the "legacy" Fastpass kiosks (the original paper versions). Without knowing exactly when, these kiosks are set to disappear in the future. It is also important to note the RFID card issued at check-in is the only way to obtain paper Fastpasses. I have heard guests recently "doubling up" on both paper Fastpasses and pre-arranged Fastpass+ selections, but again with MyMagic+ in testing, Disney will be removing the paper Fastpasses at some point.
On my recent trip, I secured Fastpass+ attractions for the evenings or late afternoons and simply used "stand-by" lines in the early morning. I found this method quite effective to hit many of our favorite attractions with little to no wait.
The good news is, modifying your Fastpass+ times is possible, even while you're in Walt Disney World. Guests have access to several iPad reservation stations located throughout the parks, including Guest Relations. Alternatively, you can modify your times from your smartphone by downloading the My Disney Experience
app or by visiting your Disney Resort Hotel front desk.
