I'm thinking on going on disney cruise line. I would like to know how you get your stateroom key as you go on board. Or does the stateroom key get mailed to you.

Welcome back, Marilyn!
Guests who book a cruise with Disney Cruise Line will receive cruise documents and luggage tags in the mail a couple weeks prior to departure. Included in this packet is a vacation checklist, embarkation information, a summary of the reservation, contact information, and your cruise contract.
Guests can take the time to fill the forms out before they arrive at port and simply bring this packet with them. Additionally, 75 days prior to departure for first time guests, you will be able to log-in to your reservation online to begin the check-in process and to begin adding extras like Port Adventures, Adult Exclusive Dining and more.
It is not until you arrive at the port that each member of your family will receive their Key to the World card and take your photo to assign to the card. These cards serve as stateroom keys, charges for your stateroom account, assignment for your photography with characters onboard (so you can see all of your photos assigned to your stateroom), and proof that you are indeed a guest on Disney Cruise Line when you disembark and re-board in the different ports of call. Parents can choose to allow or not allow their children's Key to the World cards to have charging privileges. Since my kids are young, I don't allow charges on their cards, but many parents of teens like their teenagers to be able to buy a smoothie or souvenir here and there without their parents.
I hope that gives you a bit more detailed information about the cruise documents and Key to the World cards, Marilyn! I'm happy to help with any other questions as you continue to consider and hopefully book a magical cruise with Disney!
