Any idea when Disney will be unveiling their big 2010 promotion? Going to be booking a trip for Feb 2010 next week and was hoping they would have had it out by now since it's almost October! Thanks for all the great info.

Disney unveiled the 2010 promotion a few days ago. The theme is "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day." This involves guests spending a day volunteering with an approved organization and then receiving a free ticket to Walt Disney World or Disneyland. I LOVE this idea. What a great way to get people volunteering in their communities.
Many aspects of the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" promotion will be
similar to the "Free on Your Birthday" Promotion. Guests who complete
the required volunteer commitment and already have a multi-day theme
park admission ticket will have reward alternatives. We're still
learning about this, but we expect that these will include:
- a gift figurine (not the same as the Birthday Fun card)
- a special FastPass
- donating the free admission to a charity
There are volunteer opportunities for both adults and children age six
and older. Assuming that all members of your family are at least
six-years-old and have all completed an approved volunteer experience,
then all members of your family can get into the park for free.
You can find out more about this amazing promotion on the Disney website HERE.
I was fortunate to attend the great announcement in Chicago for Disney's 2010 promotion, "Give A Day, Get A Disney Day"! This next year guests from across the nation can give back to their communities by volunteering a day and then receive a voucher for a free Disney park ticket. This will start on January 1 and you can read more about the details at the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com.
There will be over 70,000 volunteer organizations to work with and you simply will search for the nearest one to you, sign up, volunteer, get your voucher, and then celebrate for a day in a park. Children as young as six can be eligible making this a great family experience. It is a wonderful way for families to work together to serve their communities in a positive way. My day in Chicago was enriching for me to see so many great volunteers giving their time and efforts to help a school in need. Their enthusiasm was contagious and I can't wait to sign up to volunteer for 2010!
Be on the look-out for the Disney "Give A Day, Get A Disney Day" van that will be making its way across the country in the next six months. It will bring entertainment and awareness to a city near you to remind you what a great idea it is to give back!
Hi Terri,
Erin and Kay have given you some great information about Disney's 2010 Give a Day Get a Disney Day promotion, so here are just a few of my thoughts. I was lucky enough to be a guest of Disney's at the Chicago school where Mickey, Minnie and Good Morning America visited on the morning of their announcement. There are not enough words to describe the feeling of pride and joy that flowed from that school that day! It was amazing to see so many wonderful volunteers come together to help others and how excited they were to give back to the community.
I took my oldest son with me and he could not wait for the kids to see the improvements to their school. He smiled from ear to ear and commented to me a few times at how "awesome" this was and he couldn't wait to start lending a hand. To me, Disney's Give a Day get a Disney Day is so much more than a park promotion. It is a great opportunity for families to work together to help others. Personally I see this as an amazing gift-the opportunity to teach my children how to work together and help others. How exciting for Disney to recognize how powerful we all are when we come together to help others, and to encourage us to take that first step.
I was able to speak to so many of the volunteers that day, and their enthusiasm was inspiring. Such small things like painting or picking up garbage goes such a long way in making the world a better place, and I learned that day it really does begin in my own backyard with my family. I encourage everyone to register and give a day of their time, not only will you get a great treat from Mickey with the park admission but the reward will be much greater than you can imagine!
I believe the other WDW Moms did a fantastic job explaining the 2010 WDW promotion of "Give A Day, Get a Disney Day!" It is such a wonderful way to combine local communities with the the most magical place on earth.
I had the honor of working with the team in Atlanta on launch day! WOW is all I can say. It was extremely moving to see young and old, organizations and individuals unite to help make a difference in their community. The Atlanta launch was held at a branch of the Butler Street YMCA. Flower boxes and benches were built, flowers were planted, weeds were pulled and a mural painted. All in a matter of hours a true transformation took place outside the building. Inside volunteers worked diligently at stuffing bags for the recent flood victims of the metro Atlanta area.
As the hard work was underway the announcement was made to all the volunteers that although the promotion did not begin until January 1, 2010, all the volunteers in attendance would be receiving the first free tickets to Disney. The loud cheers rippled through the crowd and little ones jumped up and down in pure excitement. To me it just showed how great this promotion is, and I hope everyone will Give A Day and Get A Disney Day in 2010!
