We are a family of 5 but I only see accomodation options for parties up to 4. What options are there for families of 5? At the time of travel our kids would be around 12 (twins) and 7.

Hi Jonathan! As a family of 5, we've often had the same dilemma you are finding - many rooms have a maximum of 4 guests. However, I can tell you that there are several good options for your family at Walt Disney World. By far, my family's best vacation memories at Walt Disney World were made when we stayed in the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Think "glamping"! These individual log-style cabins accommodate up to 6 guests and have full kitchen and living room -there's plenty of space to spread out. The kids loved the bunk beds and you can rent golf carts to travel around Fort Wilderness, There are also lots of fun activities on-site that your kids would love. If the cabins don't appeal to you, the Family Suites at Disney's Art of Animation are also fabulous! These also accommodate up to 6 guests, have a kitchenette, and the bonus -they have a separate bedroom and bathroom for Mom & Dad. If a more traditional hotel room is what you are after, Port Orleans Riverside has rooms that can accommodate 5 guests, with 2 Queen-sized beds and a murphy bed that would be great for your 7 year old. We have enjoyed many great vacations while staying at Port Orleans Riverside, and it is another family favourite. All of the Deluxe resorts also have rooms that can accommodate 5 guests.
Another option to consider might be to get 2 connecting rooms at a Value Resort - this would give you lots of sleeping space and also 2 bathrooms. Just be sure to book connecting rooms and not adjoining rooms, as adjoining mean they are located side-by-side but not necessarily connected with an inside door. With the kids, you'll definitely need the connecting rooms.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of where to start searching for your accommodations for your family of 5. If you have specific resort questions, please write me back and I would be happy to answer them for you! Have a magical day!
