I am bringing my children, ages 8, 13 and 16, on a 7 day cruise. My 13 year old has Down Syndrome. I am wondering about activities and entertainment for my oldest two. Will my 13 year old be welcome to participate in activities?

Welcome to the Moms Panel! I think you will find that all three of your children will be very busy on your seven-night voyage! Between the youth programming and the cruise staff events, there will be lots to do on your cruise vacation. Your 13 year old will be welcome in Edge, the tween club or you can ask if he/she can move up to be in Vibe with your oldest. My advice is to stop by both Edge and Vibe on the first afternoon and speak with the youth counselors. The youth counselors are fabulous so rest assured they will help you determine the best spot for him/her. Your eight year old will stay busy in the Oceaneer Club and Lab which does open up for Guests of all ages during specified times each day. During this time your 13 year old may want to explore these fun, imaginative spaces. Free play and planned programming is available during the open house hours. Other activities to keep your older crew occupied will be listed in your daily cruise newsletter, the Personal Navigator. Game shows, animation classes, karaoke, first-run Disney movies, deck parties, Broadway-style shows, guest entertainers, sports deck events and splashtacular fun on the pool deck is just a sampling of what is offered. Days in port and at sea will have plenty of things to do so bring along a few highlighters so your kids can mark which activities they want to participate in. You can also pick up extra newsletters at Guest Services if you need more copies.
Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel with your question, Marilyn! If you have any additional questions, please let us know!
Have a magical day!
