Welcome aboard, Brooke! It sounds like you have quite the spring break planned! Combining a trip to Walt Disney World for spring training at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex with a cruise on the Disney Dream is a great vacation!
The private cabanas on Castaway Cay are so nice! Not only will your family have your own quiet space in which to relax, but you'll have your own special beach area, outdoor shower, really comfortable loungers, a refrigerator and private shaded deck. Included with the cabanas are sunscreen and non-alcoholic drinks. Renting a cabana on Castaway Cay is a nice way to enjoy the serenity of this beautiful island.
If you're a first-time cruiser with Disney Cruise Line, you will be able to log into your reservation
to begin online check-in 75 days prior to setting sail. It is at that time that you will be able to view and reserve special extras, like cabanas or Port Adventures. Keep in mind that there are a limited number of cabanas, and that Castaway Club members (those guests who have sailed with Disney before) and Concierge Guests are able to log in 90 or more days in advance to make reservations, so there may be very few if any cabanas left by the time you log in. To have your best chance at getting one, do plan to log in as soon as possible after 12:01 a.m. at your 75 day mark so that you can hopefully reserve one of the cabanas.
Good luck, Brooke! But, even without a cabana on Castaway Cay, there are plenty of lounge chairs, many with umbrellas or in the shade of a palm tree, spread throughout this huge beach. We have never rented a cabana and have always been very happy setting up in a shady spot on the beach to use as our home base throughout our Castaway Cay day.
Let me know if I can help with anything else before you set sail, Brooke!
