Our family of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children ages 5 & 6 are arriving Orlando Jan. 21st thru Jan. 28th. My concerns are:1) Is the monorail not be operating due to maintenance 2) will there be parades? 3) will there be firework displays? First visit for us

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I hope this will be your first visit of many! The Magic Kingdom loops of the Monorail will not be operating from 11:30AM until 7:00PM while you are visiting. While the Monorail is not operational, they will have additional buses and boats to help accommodate the traffic. This will only be an issue for you if you take a break from the Magic Kingdom during the middle of the day. Hopefully it won't be an issue at all but you might want to allow a little extra time if arriving or leaving during the affected hours. The Epcot Monorail will be running as usual.
There will be parades! The Main Street Electrical Parade will run at the Magic Kingdom every night but January 22 and 24. The Electrical Water Pageant (the oldest running parade at Walt Disney World) will run every night on the Seven Seas Lagoon just outside the Magic Kingdom. Finally, Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade runs every afternoon at Animal Kingdom.
And last, but not least, there will be fireworks! Wishes nighttime spectacular will happen every night at the Magic Kingdom and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will happen every night at Epcot. Fantasmic!, which the Walt Disney World website describes as a "breathtaking 30-minute fireworks and water extravaganza," takes place nightly at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
