Both my 5 year old son and myself have Celiac Disease and we have reservations for character meals such as Chef Mickeys and Cinderella's Table. Should I pack an extra lunch or will we be ok? We cannot have gluten at all or risk being sick for days!

Walt Disney World really does go out of its way to meet the needs of guests with dietary restrictions, including those who must observe a strictly gluten-free diet. You can make special requests in advance or, when you check in at a restaurant, you can let the cast members know about your intolerances.
Most of the time, at the table service restaurants, a chef will be available to come to your table to discuss your needs and offer alternatives. At the buffets, such as Chef Mickey's, the chef will walk through the buffet line and point out the dishes that meet your needs and those that don't.
It is a good idea to note your needs on your advanced dining
reservations. If you didn't do that yet, you can call Disney Dining at
407-939-3463 to have the notation added.
At the counter service restaurants, be sure to ask about gluten-free options. More and more are becoming available.
For more details, see the page on Special Dietary Requests
on the Disney website.
You also are welcome to bring food into the parks with you, which may be a good idea for you and your son, especially for snacks.
I hope that eases your mind a bit. Don't hesitate to contact the Disney culinary staff at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com
with your special needs or questions. And let us know if we can answer any other questions for you as you plan your visit.
