Since I travel to Walt Disney World from Canada, I can absolutely relate to your question.
Although Traveler's Cheques are indeed accepted around Walt Disney World, there are a few methods to make it easier to cash your finds if you wish. Since Photo ID is usually required in order to cash a cheque, you may find it easier to convert your Traveler's Cheques to another form of payment upon arrival at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or off-site hotel.
Walt Disney World Resort front desks will be able to cash your cheques for you so that you can do so in one transaction with your ID, and then safely lock up your cash and ID into your in-room safe. I usually then use the cash and load up a few Disney Gift Cards, placing $500 on each one, locking all but one into the room safe. We then just take one Disney Gift Card with us daily, requiring no photo ID to be toted around, and allowing for quick and easy transactions when dining or shopping. After each transaction, your receipt will tell you the amount remaining on the DGC. If you run out, simply charge to the room and then pay that balance at the front desk using another DGC from your safe. I find that this keeps us 'on budget' and makes our transactions around the parks and resorts very easy.
I always reserve a little bit of US Cash in the in-room safe after cashing in our cheques so that I have it saved for our return home for tipping Bell Services, the Magical Express bus driver and other incidentals at the airport on our way home.
I hope this information is helpful to you Lucie.
