We recently joined DVC and are planning our first trip in late July. We are going with extended family and have a fairly large group with a wide variety of ages. There will be 6-8 adults and 5 kids ( girls - 7 & 8; boys - 9, 11 & 14). Suggestions

Hi Jeff! I’m so excited to hear you’re planning your first trip as a Disney Vacation Club member! You’ll soon know why it’s pure magic to hear the phrase, “Welcome Home.”
Disney Vacation Club
gives you the flexibility to customize your vacation experience every time. It sounds like you’re going to go big for your first trip to Walt Disney World with extended family…you’ll no doubt have treasured memories for years to come.
Now the big question...do you want to keep everyone together or close with some privacy?
For the ultimate together experience you'll need a 3-bedroom villa at one of the deluxe Disney Vacation Club resorts. I like Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort or The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa both are close to Disney's Magic Kingdom Park and can accommodate up to 12 guests. From here you’ll be close to the "Wishes Nighttime Spectacular" fireworks show that lights up the sky above the beautiful Magic Kingdom castle.
For more privacy you can go with a separate 2 bedroom villa and a 1 bedroom villa at any of the Disney Vacation Club resorts. In total you’ll be able to accommodate up to 14 guests. Some of my favorites are Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas and The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
Also check out Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa as it will give you the most value for your points.
Based on when you plan to visit, I suggest confirming your accommodations because things book up quickly. Once you’ve got all that squared away be sure to let us help you plan some must see attractions.
