We're leaving for Enchanted China in 29 days. I am a planner...I am usually very wwell educated about a trip before we go. I know nothing about China and very little about this trip...any trip reports I can read?

Ni Hao Kristen! Enchanted China is a spectacular adventure. Dinner table conversations in our house still often revolve around our amazing experiences on this trip we took in 2010.
Since Adventures by Disney takes care of all the details planners like us are not quite sure how to prepare for such an epic trip. For me, I found reading was the best homework to help me get ready. Try any of Amy Tan's novels, Jung Chang's Wild Swans
, or Lisa See's Shanghai Girls
for enjoyable books to give you a feel for the culture of China.
The quickest, easiest way to grab some history and knowledge of China is through children's books. The DK Eyewitness books series has two appropriate ones- Ancient China
. A visit to the children's section of your public library will produce an armload of books for your family on many of the attractions you will visit such as pandas, the Great Wall, terra cotta warriors, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. The Longitude Books website has a great list of reading recommendations for both kids and adults travelers to China.
For firsthand reports from adventurers who have experienced the Enchanted China trip try visiting nonDisney websites such as wdwinfo and disneyadventurer. The Hiddenmickeyguy website has a blog I wrote about our China journey.
Pack enough socks and undies to last your family the whole trip. Tackling laundry on this trip is practically impossible.
If you have any specific questions about Enchanted China please contact me again. I love sharing about this adventure which was one of the highlights of my life.
