« back to Castaway Cay
I am bringing my family of 4, including a 4 year old and an 8 year old, on the Dream October 10, 2013. Are they required to wear a life jacket on Pelican Plunge or any other area of Castaway Cay? If so, are some provided, rent available, or bring our own?

Welcome aboard, Todd! Wow! It's only a few weeks now until you set sail on the Disney Dream! How exciting!
Your family, and especially your four and eight-year olds will love Pelican Plunge on Castaway Cay! My son would spend all day there if we let him! There are life jackets available free of charge to guests near Pelican Plunge. Guests must be at least 38 inches to ride the slides, and guests who are between 38-48 inches must wear a life vest. Guests taller than that are welcome to wear life vests as well if they'd like, however it is not required. You'll see the box of vests as you enter the line to swim out to the floating dock. Keep in mind that Pelican Plunge is located out in the water, requiring guests to swim. Water is over six feet deep at points from the shore to the dock, so just know that swimming is required to get to the slides.
Guests in the snorkeling lagoon must also wear life vests. The snorkel vests can be inflated and deflated to your liking, but they are required of all snorkelers so you're easily spotted from shore. Snorkel gear is available to rent, but if you bring your own gear, the Cast Members are happy to provide you with the required vest free of charge.
I hope that helps as you continue to plan! Let me know if I can help with anything else before you set sail, Todd!
