« back to Hollywood Studios
My husband and I are taking our two daughters ages 8 and 6 to DW Oct 4-11. What things are new and what tips do you have when we visit Hollywood Studios? Any hidden treasures or new character experiences?

I'm back! I saw your other questions, so I'd like to throw out a few ideas for your family's time at Disney's Hollywood Studios as well.
The character experiences are always subject to change, so my advice would be to grab a Times Guide upon entering the theme park (they're often handed out with the map of the theme park). With one of those, you'll see a comprehensive list of the week's schedule for all of the character meet-and-greets.
Now, let's talk about the other part of your question - hidden treasures! Let me share a few of my favorites:
#1 - The Citizens of Hollywood
As you cruise Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards, keep your eyes peeled for these "characters." These impromptu performances are well worth 5-10 minutes of your time to stop and watch. I don't know of any other place where you can experience live improv comedy that's family-friendly.
#2 - The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow
While this is a new experience, it seems to me that many guests still don't know about it. If you and your family enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean films, definitely swing by and check this out!
#3 - The Carrot Cake Cookie
If you recall from my last answer, I constantly have food on the brain when I'm at Walt Disney World. So, it's no surprise that I'd pick a food item for one of my "hidden treasures." This little gem can only be found at the Writer's Stop (a neat little shop right next to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant). Even though I just had breakfast, I sure could go for one of these right now!
Here's a bonus tip from your buddy Derek:
If you decide to check out The Magic of Disney Animation experience, make sure you save some time to let your children also go to the Animation Academy. There, they can learn how to draw some of their favorite characters!
I hope that helps!
