We are going on the Disney Wonder in October with our children and grandchildren that range in age from 2 years to 7 years (4 boys). What type clothing do they require for dinner? Are there formal nights that require they dress up more?

Your cruise aboard the Disney Wonder to the Mexican Riviera is so very soon, and that's fantastic that your extended family will be there together! For family dining aboard Disney ships, dinner is cruise casual -- which means no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. And for cruises which are 7+ nights, there is one formal night and one semi-formal night.
For my boys (through the years), I usually bring a pair (or two) of khaki pants, two or three collared shirts (button down or golf), a belt, slip-on dress shoes, a sportcoat and maybe a tie. This combo (in variation) seems to work for my boys' ages for cruise casual nights as well as formal and semi-formal nights until they are as big as an adult. (Just recently, we've insisted that my oldest teen son wear what dad wears.)
I like that Disney Cruise Line requires a dress code for dinner in order to maintain the integrity of the elegant dining atmosphere which they create. Plus, dressing up makes for such beautiful family portraits -- which are so rare for us. I hope this helps you plan, and many blessings on you and yours as you prepare for this wonderful voyage together. Let me know if you think of other questions.
Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
