is it possible to see the spectromagic parade and the regular fireworks in magic kingdom the same night? do the times overlap? how does that scheduling work?

You absolutely can see both SpectroMagic and the fireworks in the Magic Kingdom on the same night when both are scheduled. Keep in mind that both are not always scheduled each evening but when they are, the times do not overlap and often are scheduled an hour a part. For example, SpectroMagic may be scheduled for 9:00 p.m. and the fireworks at 10:00 p.m.
You can check the parade and fireworks schedules for the Magic Kingdom on-line by clicking here
. That will take you to the current month's calendar which will list the hours of operation each day including Extra Magic Hours. You can view a different month by clicking on the drop down list beside the View Month
box. From there, click on a specific date to see the parade and fireworks schedule.
Times are always subject to change so be sure to pick up a Times Guide in addition to your Park Guide when you enter each park.
If you are in the park on an evening when both are scheduled and want a good spot for both, I'd suggest somewhere on the Main Street U.S.A. side of Cinderella Castle. Keep in mind that people line up early for parades and fireworks so be sure to pick out a spot early and be prepared to wait. I use that time to grab my favorite snack, relax and talk with other guests about their magical day - I love talking Disney!
Wishing you many magical memories :-)
