Question I have a 17 year old with mental retardation. He is toilet trained during the day and at night wears diapers. Sometimes the diapers will leak and the bed will be wet. Are there any hotels available that may have a washing machine in the room?

Answer Yes. The one and two bedroom villas at the Disney Vacation Club resorts do have washer/dryers in the rooms. This type of accommodation is available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Old Key West, Wilderness Lodge, Saratoga Springs, the Beach Club and the Boardwalk. You can get pricing information for this type of room by calling Disney reservations at 407-W-DISNEY. You can also have the option of getting rubber sheets on a WDW bed. This can be done through the Special Needs Request Form found HERE or by speaking with a reservation agent at the above phone number.

Additionally, a great resource for you is a book called PassPorter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line. This sells for approximately $20 and is available through amazon.com and many larger bookstores. Open Mouse gives incredibly detailed information for Disney guests with any sort of challenge, from mobility issues to anxiety and allergies and everything in between. You'll find an extremely detailed description of every ride and attraction at WDW and a listing of what types of difficulties you might expect given your particular challenges.

You will also likely qualify for a Guest Assistance card. Immediately upon your arrive at a WDW theme park, stop into the guest relations office located near the entrance. You can meet with a WDW cast member who will evaluate any special touring needs you might have. Depending on your situation, you may be able to have special considerations made, such as having a different entrance for some rides.

You'll find more information on the WDW website in the area for Guests with Disabilities, HERE.

Good luck and have a wonderful time on your trip!
