Coming in January with my five year old princess lover. Wondering how many days of 7 you recommend spending at AK. If you were to squeeze it into one day, what high points of AK would you recommend we make sure to hit?

Elizabeth, one day at the Animal Kingdom park will be just fine for you and your five year old daughter. Some of the must sees and do attractions include the Safari ride of course. This needs to be done either early or secure a FASTPASS for later in the day. If your daughter is a fan of roller coasters then definitely head to Expedition Everest....if she isn't a fan you can always use the rider swap program so you both can experience this ride.
The Lion King show is the best show in this park as far as I am concerned and it will play through-out the day. When you enter the park pick up a times guide that will show the entertainment schedule for the day. I love Its Tough To Be a Bug but small children can get frightened of the big insect that pops up. If you go I suggest those with younger children to sit in the back on the left side.
The two walking trails are a great place to slow down and observe some fascinating animals. You can find gorillas on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and tigers over in Asia at the Maharajah Jungle Trek. My family enjoys taking the train over to Rafikis Planet Watch where your daughter can actually meet and greet live animals in Affection Section and inside perhaps pet a real live alligator. The parents often find this an interesting stop as well.
The parade is daily at 3:45pm and all the great Disney characters will be on the floats to wave and bid their young guests a big hello!
Our favorite lunch stop is Flametree Barbecue. Once you have your food head down the trails and find a nice quiet spot by the water to eat!
