How does the Guest Assistance Card change for Autistic Children that do not understand waiting for FASTPASS times?

Hi Carolyn! Disney has worked closely with Autistic Speaks and other disability agencies to work their new plan for the best interest of all park guests. Children in general hate lines and parents hate lines when their children are hating them. It becomes a vicious circle when parks are busy and we often see many not so happy families especially at the end of a long day.
Guests will no longer be given cards that allow them to immediately go to an attraction and ride without waiting. Instead guests can head to an attraction that they wish to experience and get a return time. It will depend on how long the standby wait is and if it is less then ten minutes you can immediately enter through the fastpass line or alternative entrance. A longer standby wait time will mean the cast member will calculate a time for you to return and when you do again you will go through the fastpass line or alternative entrance. If you think your child might get disappointed by going to the ride only to find out you can't ride it immediately then a parent can go and get the return time while the child is busy doing something else. You will be allowed to get one attraction return card at a time.
This new plan will allow all guests with disabilities a right to enjoy attractions with minimal waits and yet allows all other guests a fair shot of also seeing attractions with reasonable timing. Hopefully it will also prevent more of the abuse that has taken place over the past few years.
